Hit hard by the rapid spread of the coronavirus, the hospitality industry is collectively closing its doors. At the same time, stories abound of industry leaders stepping up to offer critical supplies and services to help defeat this pandemic. Hospitality is truly at the epicenter of the coronavirus crisis.

Las Vegas resorts are making extraordinary donations in support of health-care professionals, first responders, and nonprofit organizations in the fight against COVID-19. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal:

  • Las Vegas Sands Corporation is donating two million medical masks and 20,000 protective suits that will be distributed to Nevada and New York agencies. Sands also has donated 60 pallets of food and more than 55,000 bottles of water to local organizations.
  • Boyd Gaming donated more than 35,000 masks and 20,000 pairs of gloves to first responders and hospitals.
  • Wynn Las Vegas distributed 95,000 surgical masks, 1,500 N95 masks, and thousands of protective gloves to local medical and law enforcement facilities.
  • MGM Resorts International has donated 800 goggles, 1,000 KN-95 masks, and 100,000 surgical masks to Nevada Healthcare systems and 6,000 gloves, and 2,000 surgical masks to Nevada Health Centers.
  • Caesars Entertainment Corp. has distributed 3,500 masks to Dignity Health, 200,000 pairs of gloves and 4,000 masks to University Medical Center, 150 cases of hand sanitizer and 7,500 masks to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and 2,000 pairs of gloves to the Nevada Trucking Association.

The donations give health care workers and first responders a better chance of protecting themselves and their loved ones while treating the growing number of victims who have contracted the highly- contagious virus.
